What's better than running by yourself? Running with a bunch of crazy fun people, that's what! Spend your Saturday morning running or walking along the beautiful Tennessee River, with a bunch of the funnest runners you've ever met.

Please read ALL information before signing up so you know what you're getting yourself into! This is NOT a typical race!

We continue to use the pavilion by the dam instead of our typical location that we've used in years past, because that area is still being used for COVID-19 vaccination purposes. But getting to have any race is better than having no race! The course is mostly flat, some small inclines/declines, on a paved path that meanders by the Tennessee River, behind the campus of Chattanooga State to the Chickamauga Dam, with restrooms with toilets that flush. 

Yep, you read that right, toilets that flush and sinks with running water and soap in heated buildings. Is this a runner's dream or what?

Because of this location, we are extremely limited in terms of the number of people who can participate, due to parking limitations. If the race you want to be in shows as unavailable, that means we've reached our limit.

You will pass the start/finish/aid station area multiple times throughout the race. This means you're welcome to leave a drop bag to access your own personal goodies and you can shed layers as you warm up. This is also a good place to reapply sunscreen, address any potential issues such as blisters, and eat and drink to your heart's content! The course will be 1.31 miles long, so each out-and-back section is 2.62 miles long. That means half marathoners will do five out-and-backs to complete 13.1 miles. There will be marked out-and-back locations to get 10K (two full out-and-backs, with a shorter out-and-back) and 5K runners (one full out-and-back with a shorter out-and-back) to their respective distances. This means you're never alone, everyone can cheer each other on, and it's much more about camaraderie than competition.

All races are super low-key and non-competitive; we'd prefer to race you vs. you, not you vs. anyone else. Our races are more like large group runs than typical road races. If you want a competitive, mainstream race, there are tons to choose from. That's just not who we are. If you are a slower runner, a walker, a first-timer, or someone who is intimidated by regular races, we have a welcoming atmosphere focused on having fun and reaching your goals. You'll have a hard time finding a more supportive atmosphere than at an Awesomesauce Events race!

There is a time limit of five hours for all distances.

Your registration fee includes:
- entry into the race distance of your choosing
- online results
- as we have been doing through the past year, for swag, because things are still so unpredictable with availability and deadlines, we're going to bring out a variety of things for y'all to choose from - winter hats (the ones we've done in previous years), shirts, coffee mugs, pint glasses, and whatever else we decide to put in the trailer - for your race swag. 
- Wait! The famous Freeze Your Half Off coffee mugs are a swag option? Why is that? That is because we're doing metal medals for this race for the very first time! Our cute little yeti is going to be on recycled steel and going around your neck at the finish line, for ALL distances.
- The most epic aid station setup you've ever seen including Gatorade, water, Gu, fruit, candy, cookies, chips, pickles and pickle juice, and tons of other goodies.

Packet pickup is from 8am - 9am on Saturday ONLY. 

As with any other race put on by any other company, registration fees and add-on fees are final and are not refundable or transferable for any reason. Please don't ask, it makes our race director cry when she has to say no. We spend a lot of time and money preparing for every runner, and the money spent on you, in many cases, cannot be recouped by us. The races will go on rain, snow, or shine, unless the park service prohibits us from having a race. We have run in sub-freezing temperatures and temperatures in the 90s, so don't expect a cancellation for extreme temps!

Awesomesauce Events produces low-key, laid-back running events that are focused more about camaraderie instead of competition. Our courses are not certified and not Boston qualifiers, but they are measured accurately and are USATF sanctioned. You won't find mid-race splits or mile markers or bands on every corner or an army of volunteers with their arms outstretched holding drinks just for you. There are plenty of races that are more serious, and we choose to run for fun. We do time our races and the results are posted online, but you will not be timed to the millisecond by chip timing equipment. If these things are important to you, we welcome you to search out other race companies. Our races are more like having a picnic with your friends with some running or walking thrown in for fun. We welcome fun-loving, laid-back, family atmosphere type people who are more worried about having a good time over running absolutely as fast as they can. As with any other race put on by any other company, registration fees and add-on fees are final and are not refundable or transferable for any reason. Prices are subject to change. The races will go on rain or shine. (We reserve the right to cancel, delay, or pause mid-race if there are dangerous weather conditions, including lightning or high winds.)

2022 COVID information: It seems like in 2021, we'd get going on putting on a race, and COVID-19 would throw a new curveball our way. There have been a LOT of ups and downs. Awesomesauce is a company that we affectionately say is "just a girl in her garage." We are beyond lucky to have amazing help in Ocala to make these races happen, but the fact of the matter is, it is expensive to put on any race. Permit fees, insurance, travel costs, swag, food and drinks, first aid supplies, race bibs, right down to things like safety pins and pens to write down finish times; it's all purchased using your registration fees. We are not big enough to have sponsors to offset costs, and we try to keep our registration prices as low as we can. Because of the continued unpredictability with COVID-19 regulations and registration numbers, when you sign up for this race you understand that if we cannot register enough runners for the race to break even in terms of costs, we will cancel the race. Since, like most races, we do not offer refunds (it is expensive to do that as well, but that's a story for another day), in the event that we have to cancel, you will receive a race credit for the distance you signed up for, for a future race, which can be used for up to 3 years.

The alternative to this would be our business closing entirely. This is the best way we can try to weather this storm and survive as a business. We are sincerely thankful for all of your support.

***********IF YOU DEFERRED OR CHOSE A RACE TRANSFER DUE TO A CANCELLED RACE IN 2020***********

Making individual codes for every person who deferred or transferred a race in 2020 would take a really long time, and it's just way too labor intensive to make sense, so we have set codes for each race that we were forced to cancel last year. If you were one of the people affected (i.e. you paid for a race last year and did not attend and did not choose the virtual option, due to the pandemic), here is what you do: Register, DO NOT PAY, use the coupon code that refers to the race that you did NOT complete and did NOT choose to do virtually. You may only use this code ONCE. The code may be used for a distance equal to or shorter than the one you were originally signed up for. We WILL be checking the list to catch anyone who fraudulently uses a code, and you will NOT be permitted to participate on race day, and will be banned from all future Awesomesauce events, so we suggest you don't try any funny business. DO NOT use the codes if you were NOT signed up for these races in 2020. DO NOT use the codes if you chose to have a virtual packet mailed to you. 

If you pay for your race registration without using the code, you will NOT be refunded. Do not pay and then email us or ask us on race day for a refund because you were due a race deferral/transfer. Runsignup charges us to refund you, and it's a hefty fee that makes us lose a lot of money, so we will not do it.

Things are still VERY touch and go this year, and we do not expect all of our races to be scheduled in 2021. We are taking each state, municipality, and park one at a time and doing our very best to get as many races up and running as possible. Many factors contribute to whether or not a race can happen. Like with this park, they were willing to work out a compromise on location for us, while keeping everything else the same, but not all locations are operating with such flexibility and being willing to accommodate our standards. If the race you want to hold out for is not open for registration, that is because we simply DO NOT KNOW if it will be happening. We don't have a crystal ball. There are a lot of things outside of our control, many people involved in making decisions as to whether races can go on. Emailing to ask isn't going to get you an answer, because if we KNOW we are able to have a race, we will post it on our website and open registration. Your race transfer/deferral will be good until at least 2023, so you can wait on using it if you'd prefer.
