2022 Lewis Memorial 10 Miler ~ Results

_The 2022 Lewis Memorial 10 Miler:

IMPORTANT TIME CHANGE: Note that the start of the race has been moved to 8:00 am this year in an effort to avoid some of the traffic on the course.

This is a prediction race, so participants may not wear watches. Leave 'em in your car, your gym bag, or at home. The winner is the runner who runs closest to their predicted time. Note: FSRC Grand Prix results will be based on actual finish time.

Unique for 2022:  This event is normally a winter event, but this year was rescheduled to this spring date.  The new date puts it in a great position to make it a celebration of Easter and Spring renewal!  So put on your bunny ears and brightest Easter egg colors and let’s hop into the season!  Something tells me spring is going to feel extra special this year!  LET’S CELEBRATE!

Where: Eastview Clubhouse on Oakmont Drive in Frederick

Why: Because you love the challenge of running wicked hills in freezing weather (it builds character)

Who: FSRC members. If you’re not a current member, it’s only $20 to join the club. Still a great deal for a 10-mile race, even if you don’t take advantage of the many other benefits of club membership. If you are a current member,  you may need to renew if your membership is due to expire before race day. How much: Free for Steeplechaser members

Registration: Please register online before showing up on race morning, or plan on registering from your phone at the race venue. We will not be doing in-person registration.

What else: The Lewis Run is the early season race that we love to hate.   Prizes go to the closest predicted time and front runners receive our admiration and a hearty slap on the back. The course is paved but REALLY HILLY!   In order to do awards in a timely fashion and get the volunteers off the roads, there is a 2:30 time limit for this event.  That equates to a fairly generous 15 min/mile, but it's not an event for walkers.

Breakfast:  Bring a food item to share.  (We run to eat, right?) 

Directions:  From Rt. 40 (West Patrick Street in Frederick), turn onto Waverly Drive by the Frederick Town Mall.  Follow speed bumps to Shookstown Road.  Go left and begin to climb.  Watch for Lakeview Drive on the left, but don’t turn on it. Make the next left onto Oakmont Drive (it’s hard to see). Go down a steep hill to a lake with a clubhouse on the left.  That’s it!

Weather: It’s a winter race and parking can sometimes be an issue if there has been significant snow. Any announcements about possible cancellations due to weather will be made on the Frederick Steeplechasers Facebook Group.  Registered runners will be notified by email.

Parking: (BIG DEAL AT THIS EVENT!) PLEASE plan to carpool or be dropped off or get to the event by bike or on foot. Parking is very limited at the venue!

Volunteer: This was never intended to be a big event.  It’s an especially challenging 10-mile route with minimal support.  But volunteers are much needed as course marshals to help keep runners safe on the hilly 10-mile route, so if you want to avoid the painful hills but still want to participate, VOLUNTEER!   Sign up to volunteer at: runsignup.com/fsrclewisrun/volunteer
