_The 2022 ELCA Alleluia Fun Run/Walk:

The ELCA congregations of Northfield - St. Peter’s, St. John’s and Bethel - are partnering on the 2nd Sunday of Easter (April 24, 2022) to offer a unique worship experience – a fun run! Moving our bodies will help us encounter the resurrection story in a new way. There will be a full 5k route as well as a half-distance option. All walkers and runners are invited to carpool and park at Bethel Lutheran Church. A bus shuttle will leave Bethel at 9:40 am to bring you to St. Peter's (418 Sumner St. E, Northfield) or to St. John's (for the half-distance start, located at 500 Third St. W, Northfield). We will begin at St. Peter's at 10 am.

You don't have to be a walker or a runner to participate. Folks will be at each church to cheer and to return the Easter greeting to the walkers and runners. Church choirs will be singing along the way! Gather at Bethel at 11:00 a.m. for the final portion of the service (with holy communion). We will then enjoy a fish taco fellowship (in honor of Jesus' resurrection appearance at the beach) - if you're not a fish person, other fixings will be available too.

Registration is free. Please consider donating to Lutheran Immigration Refugee Service (LIRS) - an experienced non-profit that provides assistance to those who have had to run for their lives. If you would like your donation to be reflect on your yearly giving statement, donate through your home church’s website and designate this as “Fun Run/LIRS”, or bring a check (made out to your home congregation) with “Fun Run/LIRS” in the notation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE 5K FUN RUN/WALK
What if I don't want to run/walk?
No problem, you can still participate in worship! You can choose to participate in the full worship by driving to St. Peter's at 10 a.m. for the start and back to Bethel for the conclusion at 11 a.m., or come to Bethel at 11 and stay for fish taco fellowship. The world is your oyster.

I'm a walker, where should I start?
You can do the full route and start at St. Peter’s (this does involve crossing highway 3 at the crosswalk). You can also do the ½ route and start at St. John’s.

Please note: Communion and the conclusion of the service will start at Bethel at 11. If you decide to walk and don’t make it in time for the rest of the service, no problem! Enjoy communing with nature on your way and join us for fish taco fellowship!

What if I get tired and need a hitch back to Bethel?
There will be a "sweeper" van playing caboose for the run/walk. Flag them down if you need to catch a ride back to Bethel.

Where should I park?
If you are doing the full route or the half route, you may park at Bethel. Buses will run at 9:20 and 9:40 a.m. to both St. John's and St. Peter's. Then you will run/walk back to Bethel and have your car waiting for you after fellowship.
*The buses will not run after the conclusion of the service or fellowship back to St. John's or St. Peter's.

I'm not a fish fan, what can I eat?
Chicken fritter tacos, gluten-free fish tacos and a vegetarian taco option will also be available!

What happens if it rains?
In case of thunderstorms and lightning, a modified version of the worship will be indoors at Bethel beginning at 10:30 a.m.
