This race recognizes the importance of STEAM and STEM programs in our communities and will benefit Impression 5 Science Center’s scholarship programs. Impression 5 Science Center is a dynamic, interactive space for families to play, create, and challenge their understanding of science together. Their scholarship programs increase access to their exhibits and experiences for children and families throughout our community. Also, Impression 5 is celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2022! Location: Hawk Island Park Start Time: 9:30 am on Sunday March 13, 2022 To help everyone feel comfortable, we will have a flexible start line! Start the 5K run/walk any time between 9:30 and 9:45am. Those racing for a competitive time, start to line up to at 9:20 am. After the competitive start, keep an eye on the start line and begin your run/walk when you feel comfortable. The starting line is open to allow for social distancing. You do not have to feel rushed to get to the starting line. Start your race when you are ready. Timing does not start until you cross the timing mats! Parking: Parking fee at Hawk Island has been waived for this event. Please tell booth attendant you’re here for the Pi Day 5k to be exempt from parking fee. Entry Fee: Early bird registration $25 until December 31st. Registration $30 from January 1st through March 6th. Registration increases March 7th to $35 Giveaways: Finisher medals and shirts available to participants and all participants receive a piece of pie after the race! Early Packet Pick Up: Packet Pick up will be available on Friday March 11 from 3:30-6:00 p.m. at Impression 5 Science Center located at 200 Museum Dr, Lansing, MI 48933. Please note that masks are required inside Impression 5 for ages 3 and up regardless of vaccination status. Please enter through the small north parking lot entrance. Pick up will take place outside of regular hours for the center so the other entrance will be locked. Day of Packet Pick Up: Race day packet pickup will begin at 8:30 am at Peregrine Pavilion in Hawk Island Park. Masks are encouraged at packet pick up, but not required in the outdoor setting. Results: Your accurate chip time and current overall and age group place will be texted to your phone and live on this site. Timing done by Michigan Running Foundation. Age Groups for timing: Under 14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. Playmakers gift cards for top female and male finishers in each age group and for overall male and female finishers. No-shows to the race will forfeit their shirt and finisher medal. Proceeds from the race go to support Impression 5’s scholarship program. Virtual Pi Day 5k: If you can't make the race and still want to participate, sign up for the virtual race and we will mail out a shirt and medal to you! Run your virtual race any time from March 7th to March 14th (Pi Day!). Cost is $35 and includes shipping. There are no placement awards for the virtual event. Virtual event registration closes March 6th and packets will be mailed no later than March 8th.
